Landfill Methane Check · waste operators
Is the site doing what the model says?
Your gas capture is modelled, metered and reported. Satellites see the site itself. We look at the open archive for your landfills and write back what is visible, what is not, and how it changed around the works you have already done.
How it works
- You name the sites. One to three landfills, and the month of any recent capping, flare or well field works
- We look at the open archive over the last two years: Sentinel-2 for point sources, TROPOMI for the larger plumes, before and after the works you named
- You get a short written check: what is visible, what is not, what changed around those works, and what we would look at next
Worth saying plainly
It is free and there is no obligation. If nothing is visible above the detection limits, the check says exactly that, which is worth knowing before anyone else looks. Dan does each one himself, so we take two checks a month across all our clients.
What it is not
It is not a compliance measurement, it does not replace your metering, and it cannot tell you a capture rate. Landfill emissions are usually more spread out than a mine vent, and satellites are best at concentrated sources, so part of the check is saying which parts of your site the archive can and cannot speak to. Where it is most useful is change: the same site, before and after works.
